Der Smart Globe wurde im Auftrag der Firma Infineon Technologies AG Villach entwickelt und soll als Demonstration eines Winkelsensors der Firma Infineon auf Messen und Firmenbesuchen dienen. Er stellt eine schnell rotierende LED-Anzeige dar, auf der dann ein Globus oder andere Bilder bzw. Texte zu sehen sind. Der Antrieb erfolgt mit einem Motor, der die Anzeige mit einer Drehzahl von ca. 1200U/min rotieren lässt. Durch die Auswertung des Winkelsensors wird eine exakte Steuerung der RGB-LEDs ermöglicht. Die Spannungsversorgung für den Motorbetrieb erfolgt mittels einem 24V Netzteil. Als abschließenden Effekt wird ein User-Interface am Gehäuse des Smart Globes eingebaut, um mittels mehreren Tastern verschiedene Texte und Bilder wählen zu können. Die Bilder können dabei über ein selbst entwickeltes Programm am Computer in den Smart Globe gespeichert werden. Weiters enthält das User-Interface einen Taster, welches das Bild am Smart Globe langsam rotieren lässt.

The Smart Globe has been developed on behalf of Infineon Technologies AG Villach and should serve as a demonstrator of an angle sensor from Infineon at fairs and company visits.
It represents a rapidly rotating LED display, on which you can see a globe or other pictures and texts. The drive is provided with a motor that rotates the display with a speed of about 1200rpm. By evaluating the angle sensor, a precise control of RGB-LEDs is possible. The voltage supply for the engine operation is made by a 24V power supply. As a final effect a user interface will be mounted on the body of the Smart Globe to choose different images and texts with several buttons. The images can be stored in the Smart Globe using the self-developed program on the computer. Furthermore, the user interface contains a button which rotates the image on the Smart Globe slowly.
