Patienten mit Lymphödem haben durch ihre Krankheit vergrößerte Extremitäten. Durch die Therapie soll sich das Volumen des Lymphödems verkleinern. Um den Therapieverlauf zu verfolgen, wird das Volumen derzeit mittels Wasserverdrängung ermittelt. Das im Rahmen dieses Projektes entwickelte Verfahren misst mit dem Ultraschallsensor den Umfang einer Extremität an mehreren Stellen. Mit Hilfe dieser Messpunkte wird das Volumen berechnet. Der Vorteil dieses Verfahrens ist, dass es berührungslos und komfortabler ist. Das Ergebnis wird über USB auf den PC übertragen und der Wert des Volumens angezeigt. Dieses Projekt baut auf bereits bestehende Teile auf und somit wird die teilweise vorhandene Mechanik verwendet.

Patients with lymphoedema will suffer from swollen extremities. With the help of specialized therapie the volume of the affected extremities should go down. To track the course of the treatment, specialist are measuring the volume using water displacement. In the context of this developed projekt we are measuring the volume using an ultrasonic sensor to measure the diameter of the extremitie on various points. With the help of these measured points the volume shall then be measured. The advantage of this procedure is that it is contact-free and more comfortable. The result will then be transfered via USB to the PC and then displayed. The excisiting components that this project has will be used.
