About

In our project we are working in cooperation with the HTL- Mössingerstraße. The school is located in Klagenfurt and is splitted into the department for electrical engineering and the department for electronics and the department for biomedical sciences. At the HTL- Mössingerstraße, department for electrical engineering, students are learning how electrical machines work. But there is a lack of exercises which explain, how a frequency converter is working. There they need a practice composition of a frequency converter. The tasks of the project teams are to build a frequency converter which allows the students to work with a frequency converter so that they can understand how it is working. Therefore the project team will construct a case, in which the single components, microcontroller board, phase board and netfilter board get merged. Connecting elements allow it to fasten a three phase asynchronous motor to the case. On the basis of the frequency circuit an asynchronous motor was selected. Furthermore the most important parameters of the frequency converter should be presented on a display. These parameters should be calibrated with a push- button during the circuit working. Because of the high voltages and current that occur in the circuit, which can be perilous for humans, the team has to consider safety standards. To guarantee the individual parametrizing with the push- button, we have to program a microcontroller which is also responsible for the pulse width modulation signal. For the programming a microcontroller is used because it is much more flexible than a normal circuit. With this documentation it should be possible to build further products of the frequency converter in the HTL- factory.
