Electronic

Into the drone „Falcon Eye“, three microcontrollers are working. The first is responsible for the command radio between groundstation and aeroplane, the second for data evaluation of the considerable sensor system and the third is responsible for the flight control.
The drone has a highly sensitive flight control electronic which determines and controls the attitude of flight with help of a multiplicity of sensors 100 times per second. Acceleration sensors, gyroscopes, a compass, GPS and a barometer constantly control the position and influence the rudder control as required. With help of these „senses“ changes of course triggered by gusts of wind for example are corrected automatically. Also autopilots for the automatic altitude- and coursecontrol as well as the automatic route guidance are realised through these sensors.
The aeroplane also has a variety of sensors for the system diagnostic. Voltages, currents or temperatures at system components are controlled constantly. At extraordinary values or recognized failures, warning messages are sent immediately to the ground station.
To ensure the security at flight, the drone also has a certain artificial intelligence for self-treatment. Should the pilot for example reach the „point of no return“, that’s the point from where the battery capacity doesn’t dispose enough power for the return flight, the drone immediately sends a warning message to the ground station. Should radio interferences occur during flight or the aeroplane flights outside of the maximum range and lose the contact to the ground station, it is able to control independetly back to the takeoff point.
